An entry for the Denver Affordable Housing Competition. The proposal focused on the vast number of empty surface parking lots surrounding Downtown Denver as potential sites for new mixed-income housing that would help repair the fractured urban fabric and take advantage of newly installed light rail transit.. A site northeast of Downtown was selected which had a range of sites, some full block, others partial blocks. The proposal explored the potential of the recent changes to Colorado’s building codes allowing Single-Stair Access up to six stories for four units per floor. A range of building types are shown serving different segments of the community. These include three-story tick-under townhouses, walk-up and elevator and single- stair accessed stacked flats.
